I haaate it. I live in Australia, and its not an Australian tradition. Australia is becoming more and more like other countries, and 'celebrating' halloween is just encouraging it to be the same.
Same thing here in Austria (...the country in Europe ): It's not an Austrian tradition and never was, but the idea seems to spread little by little due to North American movies and TV series, and due to department stores' commercial interests in having another season for selling decoration and costumes...
I love it, the whole concept and idea but in Greece we don't really celebrate it... Our "Halloween" is called "Apokries" i "Karnavali" (carnaval) and we celebrate it late at February... We dress up but we don't do the "Trick or Treat" thing (we mainly have fun in masquarade dances, and the whole atmosphere isn't that spooky... However it is fun too!
We don't really celebrate it in Holland... well it's beginning to get a little bit more popular every year, but we don't do the while trick or treat thing
